Get Involved in
Seneca Habitat
Seneca
Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer-driven
organization.
In
fact, we have only one paid employee!
The
majority of our work is accomplished by community members--people
like you.
There are
lots of ways to help out, and only some of them involve whacking things
with a hammer. While our insurance agents tell us that building-site
volunteers must be at least 16 years old, there is no maximum
age limit. You'll find men and women of all ages and
backgrounds working side by side with qualified Habitat Partner
Families.
Read on
for ideas about how you can aid Seneca Habitat for Humanity in its
mission.
Help Build Houses
Habitat
wouldn't be Habitat without the houses, and every Saturday is building
day. Habitat builders start work at 9 a.m. and finish up by 4
p.m. Lunch is provided (see below).
Seneca Habitat
boasts a dedicated core of
seasoned construction professionals who ensure the high quality our
homes are known for.
Don't know
a skill saw from a reciprocating saw? Don't worry--the
experienced Habitat builders are happy to teach you anything you'll
need to know.
If you would like to volunteer,
please complete the volunteer information and waiver of liability forms
to the right, send them into the Habitat office, and one of
our dedicated volunteers will contact you shortly.
Make
Lunch for Hungry Workers
Building
Habitat houses builds an appetite, so Seneca Habitat provides lunch to
everyone helping on Saturdays. Area churches, businesses,
organizations and individuals donate lunch. If you or your
group would like to help with lunch, please let us know!
Clean
& Maintain Building Sites
Seneca
Habitat wants to be a good neighbor. We can use volunteers to help with
building-site cleanup, landscaping and mowing.
Donate to Seneca Habitat!
We of course need
and appreciate monetary
donations (see the box at right for details on donating to Seneca
Habitat), but there are other kinds of donations besides cash.
Seneca
Habitat accepts donations of empty aluminum cans for recycling. This is
a great way for you, or someone you know, to get involved with us. If
you have cans you’d like to donate, please call the office at
419-447-4270 to arrange drop-off.
Seneca
Habitat collects old electronics for recycling as well. We
accept
computers, printers, monitors, telephones, and more (sorry, we can’t
accept televisions). Contact us at 419-447-4270 to arrange a drop-off
at our warehouse.
If
you have empty empty ink cartridges of any size, we'll take them off
your hands for recycling—funds raised help support office operations,
equipment repairs, etc. Once again, please call the office at
419-447-4270 to arrange drop-off.
Kroger Rewards
Another
easy way to support Seneca Habitat is by using your Kroger’s Community
Rewards when you go shopping! Go to www.krogerscommunity
rewards.com. If you’re a first-time user, select Ohio
(Columbus), click on the pink Enroll box, and follow the instructions.
If you’re a returning user, click on the My Account option, go to Account Settings,
select Community Rewards,
and you can edit your information there for the Rewards to go towards
Seneca Habitat. If you have any questions, you can contact Debbie Swick
at debbie.swick@kroger.com.
